A.C.O.R.N. is the place to begin your search for a home or commercial building in old Richmond. Before you begin your search for a property to renovate, there are several steps that must be followed with the City of Richmond to make it possible for your renovation to go smoothly.
Permits must be filed, and there may be zoning requirements that need to be addressed before beginning the work. If you hire a contractor to renovate your historic home, he or she will take care of filing all of the required paperwork that will allow the renovation to commence.
To help you get an idea of the process involved when undertaking a renovation, the City of Richmond has put much of the information relating to permits, zoning variances, zoning master plan, and historic property information on its Community Development web site. CITY REQUIRES OWNERS TO REGISTER VACANT PROPERTY:
Neighborhoods are now benefiting from the new Vacant Building Registry enacted in late 2006. Vacant property owners can no longer leave their property vacant for years on end without registering it with the city. The message is clear: Fix up your property or we will hold you accountable. Click here to view the City's Press Release. The Vacant Property lists have been compiled - click on the links below to view the lists:
