The City of Richmond Planning Commission has passed the Draft Downtown Master Plan. Now City Council will be reviewing the document in September when they return after the August Council break. Neighborhood meetings have taken place and citizen The proposed Master Plan is a hopeful, yet realistic vision created by the citizens of Richmond. Seven Plan Foundations are outlined in the Plan that include:
- Variety and Choice in Housing
- The Traditional City
- Green Qualities in the City
- The River
- Urban Architecture
- History of Richmond
- Mixed-Income or Economic Diversity
Passing this plan has been a year long effort beginning with the planning charrette over in Manchester at Plant Zero. Residents, non-profit groups, corporations and government entities participated in this process. Overall, the above foundations of the plan remain intact. Planning Commission members spent countless hours pouring over each sentence of the document trying to accommodate all concerns while keeping these foundations intact. Please take a moment to contact all of them to thank them for this effort.
